Daily reflections: Monday: November 21/11

Gospel: Luke 21:1...... in this Gospel we see how observant Jesus was. He standing watching people put their donations into the treasury. First, he saw the rich people putting in their contribution, they saw a poor widow putting it in her contribution. He made the remark that the rich people put in their money out of their abundance, while the widow put in her money out of poverty. It basically tells us that the widow made a sacrificial offering whereas the wealthy people gave what was left over from what they did not need. This passage may cause us to stop and reflect on our giving, does our charitable giving come out of our abundance, we don't really miss whatever we have given away, and sold there is very little if any sacrifice. On the other hand, the widow is assigned a sacrificial giving that speaks of a different kind of a heart, a heart of compassion and generosity.

Reflection: as you reflect on your charitable giving what does it tell you about yourself?

Prayer: The universe is so generous in  giving life and all that sustains life on every level. As I experience the generosity of the universe may I be inspired to be both generous to others and a willingness to sacrifice in some measure. Amen
